Rockin' Green Remix and New Scent!

Today, Rockin' Green released the details of their new remix formula and their new scent, Earth, Wind, & Orchids. Here's the scoop direct from the Rockin' Green newsletter.

So what is REMIXED all about? Here’s the changes you’ll see:

  • Gentle for longevity. The new blends have the lowest PH of any other cloth diaper detergent on the market, which means that it’s even gentler on fabrics and diapers.
  • Safer for sensitive skin. Having undergone cosmetic testing, Rockin’ Green can be used on the most sensitive of skin types*.
  • Better cleaning power. Designed to deliver more cleaning power per scoop, many customers have found a 60 percent reduction in stains, and were able to reduce the amount of “rock the soaks” needed.
* Testing was done on Rockin’ Green’s unscented soap called Bare Naked Babies

NEW scent: Earth, Wind and Orchids

Please give a warm welcome to Earth, Wind and Orchids. Just like all Rockin’ Green blends, the new orchid blossom fragrance is all natural and uniquely created. The soap is flowered with inviting hints of tartness, floral, woods, honeysuckles and sugar. However, anytime a “new band member” joins the group, it means someone has to say goodbye, so bid adieu to The Plain Green Tea's – it will no longer be offered.

NEW Packaging: New on the Outside Too

To reflect Rockin’ Green’s commitment to the environment packaging has been redesigned to use less material and make it easier for consumers to recycle. The standard 45/90 packages will have an updated new look. While Rockin’ Green’s Ammonia Bouncer, Funk Rock, will now come in a printed 16-oz stand up pouch with zipper for more convenient use and storage. Additionally, the “Shake It Ups” will rock a spouted printed stand up pouch.

What does Rockin’ Green founder Kim Webb have to say about all of these rockin’ changes?

“One of our top priorities is providing our customers with the highest quality, most effective products possible, as well as staying fresh and new. After testing and research, we found a wonderful new scent everyone is going to love, and the REMIXED Rockin’ Green formulas will knock our customers socks off.”

My own personal experience with Earth, Wind & Orchids is that it is not overly floral as I feared. It's a very soft, very clean scent. I'm not a floral fan  but this is a very light, pleasing scent. I just rocked a soak with it!

How I Battled With Yeast

My little guy, Kevin, kept getting a yeast rash over and over again. We'd clear it up, treat our diapers and everything would be fine for a few months until it would come back after a series of harsh poops. (Isn't it fun how when you are a mother, especially a cloth diapering mother, talking about poop is normal and not at all gross?)

I was getting desperate. I knew that because we had such long periods between outbreaks that it wasn't really still in the diapers and I especially knew when it came back during a period where he was in disposables. So what was my solution? I've been adding a few drops of tea tree oil to both my wipe solution and my wash water and also in my wipe solution a bit of olive oil. Both are a natural anti-fungal and it even seemed to speed up clearing up the rash and guess who learned her lesson when she stopped using it for a few months?? *raises hand*. That will teach me to run out of tea tree oil and think it doesn't matter!

And since seeing how well that has worked I've become more open to using other essential oils. My next experiment is going to be using an oil blend as a bug repellent. It will get a great test when we're on vacation in Maine this summer!

Hyrbid Diapers Camping Style!

This past weekend, my family went camping in Pennsylvania. Typically when we go on vacation or camping I would buy a pack of sposies to use but this time, I decided to give the Hybrid systems a shot. I have only used a disposable insert once and it didn't end well as Kevin ended up soaking his clothes after less than two hours. I probably didn't have it tucked in right or something but I was scared to try them away from home. But I decided I really should give it an honest shot so I packed up all my Flip covers along with my Bummis. Then I decided I might need more so I packed my GroVia covers just in case. I wasn't feeling so sure about them because of the mesh lining, I was afraid they'd be more difficult to clean. I had a pack of G-diaper disposable inserts so I packed those up and bought myself my first pack of disposable wipes in months!

I will say that overall, it worked out pretty well. The problems I encountered were due to the fact that Kevin spent his weekend pooping instead of camping! ;)  As it turns out, I'm not even sure what size inserts I had because I took them out of the bag a long time ago but they definitely weren't long enough in the back. I am SO THANKFUL that our campsite had it's own water spout to rinse the covers at. But, on the other hand, the mess was always contained by the cover so even though clean-up was not as convenient as it could have been, it also wasn't horrible.
I think I will continue to use Hybrids for camping and trips but I would like  to test out some other brands and sizes as well.

So....who else has an interesting experience to share with using hybrids while traveling?
