Did everyone survive Thanksgiving? We did! We had dinner at my in-laws at 2:30 and dinner at my mom's house at 5:30! Talk about food coma! But I wouldn't have it any other way.
And then we attempted some Black Friday shopping and I was successful in my ventures and completely exhausted by Friday night after a night/morning of shopping, a trip to the tree farm and then to the Lights Parade. But I wouldn't have it any other way!
Now in case you are looking for a unique holiday gift, here are a few of my current favorites we have. (My favorites are always changing, are yours?)
Lula Clips
These are genius! They keep the seat belt held out of the way so you don't have to pull it out from behind baby to buckle them in!
Dr. Carey's Baby Kit
This is a great gift for a new mom. It includes a FANTASTIC baby care book with color photos of all those weird things you have questions about that you never thought you'd wonder, like "What kind of poop is normal?"
It also comes with a receiving blanket, nose bulb suctioner, rash cream and more!
Charlie's Pre-Spray
Are you already a fan of Charlie's Soap? Have you tried their biodegradable laundry pre-spray? It's amazing! It's safe to use on cloth diapers. I've been using it for a few months now with no issues and less stains! I also have used it on hot chocolate stains and a variety of other toddler involved messes.
Fuzzi Bunz Diaper Talk Diapers
These are just too cute! Enough said.
Planet Wise Food Bags
These make great stocking stuffers! Available in sandwich and snack sizes they are a cute alternative to reusable plastic bags.Don't see the print you want? Send us an e-mail! As long as the manufacturer has it in stock we can get it for you!
And as always, don't forget: We offer FREE SHIPPING to anywhere in the United States and will ship internationally!!!!
I'm a big fan of giving diapers/wipes either disposable or cloth depending on the mama's preference, or paper plates & plastic utensils for easy meal cleanup after baby is born. (I *know* that's not eco-friendly, but even my crunchiest mama friends have appreciated the convenience while recovering from birth)
ReplyDeleteAmen to the disposable dishes after having a new baby!! I've given the same thing!
ReplyDeleteI have always given gifts that I know the mom will use. If she cloth diapers, then a gift basket with a few diapers and some CD safe creams. If she isnt into cloth then I go with something like a nice swaddle blanket or baby food maker.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely cloth diapers! I've finally bought most of what a close friend will need for her stash, I can't wait to give it all to her! I bought mostly Fuzzibunz OS and Bumgenius OS. If you know someone who will be using cloth but you cant afford to buy diapers, you can do the diaper accessories , wetbags, detergent, measuring scoop, cloth wipes, wipe spray, etc!
ReplyDeleteOh, and if the mom isn't pro CDing, I love hooter hider's with other BFing accessories
ReplyDeleteMy favorite baby gift to give (especially to first time parents) is Baby 411. Most of your burning questions answered in 1 book.

my favorite gift to give a first time mom, is diaper creams and some cloth wipes and some brand of lanolin cream for her.

My favourite gift to give is newborn size sleepers with zippers. Sounds so simple, but many new parents underestimate just how irritating snaps can be in the middle of the night.

I love to give natural teething toys, cloth diapers, gift cards, and organic bath soaps.
ReplyDeleteI used to love giving larger clothes-- like 6-12 months, for later down the road when all the gifts run out! Now that I'm into cloth.... I think I might start giving cloth diapers!

ReplyDeleteI like giving a fuzzy blanket embroidered with the baby's name as a gift after the baby is born, and at baby showers I tend to do towels & wash cloths just because I think they're so cute & have no reason to buy them for my own kiddos because they have at least 2 dozen between the 3 of them!
ReplyDeleteI think those Lula clips look neat!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to give lately to new moms is nursing pads. I haven't tried giving cloth diapers yet :) not sure how my friends would take that, maybe I should try :) I LOVE my cloth diapers!

My favorite thing to give is something off the registry and then baby clothes (onesies, outfits, etc.) I just can't resist baby clothes shopping. They're too cute! I wish more mommas were open to the idea of cloth diapering. I'd love to give out CDs, but I'm afraid they would just never get used or even tried.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gifts to give are a Happiest Baby on the Block book and natural teethers!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for another friend to get pregnant so I can give them CD and get them hooked! So that someone i know can have the same addiction i do!
ReplyDeleteI like to give something practical and then something fun/cute in a baby gift. Usually it's something like baby feed-ware or a natural heath care item and then an outfit that is just too cute to leave at the store. Of course, since discovering the amazing world of cloth diapering, it's really everything rolled into one!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things to give are eco-friendly toys. They are always adorable and as a bonus, good for the environment!

Oh man! There are so many things I love to give as baby gifts. I like to give away what we have loved or found most useful. Usually I give a clothing item or 2, but I try to go overboard. I like to give a book, a Sing Over Me CD, the travel version of the sleepy giraffe, diapers (would love to give a cloth diaper away to someone who would use it!), and some toys.

I love giving the most awkward sounding items off of the expectant mother's registry (i.e. nipple cream, butt-paste, glow-in-the-dark rectal thermometer, etc). It makes an amusing, yet utterly useful package of gifts:)
